These are open gravel roads with vast expanses walking between Guest Farms and Private Nature Reserves. This is an opportunity to experience the peace and tranquility that this area has to offer.

The Gravel Corridor hike takes you along the open gravel roads of the Klein Karoo. Vast open spaces, fresh air and the smell of Klein Karoo shrubs will transport you mind, to forgotten places.
This could be a detox from the fast-paced city life, technology & time constraints….It could be your gift to yourself for 2024….It could be a chance to think clearly, maybe dream again. Whatever it is you need for yourself this break away could be that for you.
This adventure promises evenings around the fire, star-filled skies, silences that makes you hear your own heart beat… night sounds of a jackal calling its mate. Visiting two private nature reserves you are bound to encounter wildlife, the area has gemsbok, kudu & eland that are roaming freely as well. Untouched part of the Klein Karoo, in many senses, you will “see” how people used to live.
Accommodation: camping, a set up campsite with great food and wine. When last have you watched the sun setting or rising for that matter?
Slack-packing, we will transport your luggage from point a to b and one of Montagu’s well established guides will walk with you.
Your responsibility for the duration of your break-away: getting yourself from point to point….That is it.

What to expect: trees, grass, water, swimming pools…LUSH. Leeuwenboschfontein make you think of what the ATKV used to be. Convenience and comfort.
DAY TWO
to Gecko Rock Private Nature Reserve 16.5 km
What to expect: peace and tranquility with wide open spaces to breathe and just be. Great food & good wine and maybe even re-connection with yourself.
DAY THREE
to Machaseh 24km
What to expect: a campsite created especially for this slack packing adventure. A shepherd’s old stonehouse-ruin, restored for ablutions, a campsite in the wild. Breathtaking views…
DAY FOUR
to Welverdiend 17.5 km
What to expect: a campsite on a private farm overlooking the expanses towards Sanbona. Wood-fired donkey for hot water, peace and tranquility
DAY FIVE
to Ouberg Private Nature Reserve 13.5 km
What to expect: nestled between the mountains this private nature reserve is a well hidden gem. Views, tranquility, fresh air and beautiful vegetation.
DAY SIX
to Montagu 20 km
What to expect: we will hike to The Barn on 62 and all have lunch together, from here you and your luggage will be transported to where you started 6 days ago, via the tar R318
